Thin porcelain tiles, often referred to as TPT or Thin-body Porcelain Tiles, are in the category of fully vitrified tiles. Which signify a water absorption rate less than 0,5% category. TPT is in the category of hard flooring material. Despite their exceptional lightweight TPT are strong porcelain tiles that require significantly less raw material and energy to produce than an equivalent standard thickness porcelain tiles which makes them easier to handle and kinder to the environment. TPT contain fewer minerals and create fewer carbon and solid emissions. 
瓷质薄板,通常也称为TPT或称为薄体瓷砖,属于完全的玻化砖范畴。这意味着其吸水率在小于0.5%的范围内。TPT属于硬质地板材料。尽管其拥有超轻的特性,但TPT仍是质地坚硬的瓷砖,与同等厚度标准瓷砖相比,其生产所需的原材料和能耗更少,因此更易处理更益环境。

Because of TPT eco-friendly characteristics, a lot of ceramic companies have self-created logos to sensitize public's enthusiasm for "green" building materials and to boost sales.

So we can easily say that TPT are sustainable tiles.

Manufacturing process 
生产流程
Ordinary porcelain tiles are produced using an extrusion manufacturing process but Thin porcelain tiles are usually pressed to reach the desired thickness.  The result is a thin porcelain tile which is very dense, strong and harder wearing with extremely low water absorption.
普通瓷砖是采用挤压加工工艺生产,而瓷质薄板通常是被压制成所需的厚度,因此瓷质薄板非常紧实,坚硬,耐磨,而且吸水率极低。
1. Why so thin? 
为何如此薄?
Thin porcelain tiles (TPT) are also outstanding for their minimal thickness anywhere between 3 to 6 mm thick.TPT can structurally be reinforced with a 0.5mm glass fiber mesh.
瓷质薄板(TPT)其最小厚度在3mm~6mm之间也是其突出的特征,可以用0.5mm玻璃纤维网对其进行结构加固。
 
2. TPT is made for modern subflooring. 
 
瓷质薄板是顺应当代地板基材而生的.
Subflooring quality has considerably evolved for the past 80 years. Cement, concrete, engineered wood and plastic subflooring are commonly used as flooring substrate in modern homes. Their affordable cost makes them accessible to all. So adding a heavy or standard tile to such subflooring will simply reinforce the floor thickness and hardness, which can be seen as an excess in residential and institutional applications where the floor covering surface's functional value is the most important. Since TPT surfaces have nothing to envy standard porcelain tiles surface they are inevitably the choice of those who seek security and functionality.

3. Because time is money.

 TPT reduces cost on renovation projects.Thin tiles were manufactured to respond to needs of installing tiles over an existing floor or wall coverings, eliminating the need for ripping out existing finishing materials in renovation projects, saving time and money in labor costs.
